The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) is the official news agency of the North Korean government. Its main task is to promote the views of the North Korean government both to the local audiences and abroad. The agency was created in 1946.

KCNA is technically accountable to the Korean Central Broadcasting Committee, but in reality its activity is fully controlled by the propaganda unit at the Workers’ Party of Korea.
