The Ministry of Information directly controls, operates and finances all the print media in Eritrea. They include the newspapers Eritrea Profile (published twice a week in English), Eritrea Haddas (published in Tigrinya, the language that is spoken by the majority of the people in Eritrea), Eritrea Al Haditha (a newspaper in Arabic), and Haddas Ertra (a native Tigrinya newspaper). Other publications, which appear irregularly, are Men’esey, Shebab and Agizo, all magazines.

All the print media in Eritrea are owned and governed by the Ministry of Information. All of them are hosted online on the ministry’s website.
Source of funding and budget
All the print media in Eritrea are funded by the government. According to two journalists based in Eritrea, the newspapers also used to carry, but the revenues they generate are small, accounting for less than 5% of the newspapers’ budget.
Editorial independence
Like all media in Eritrea, the government press in Eritrea operates under the strict control of the Ministry of Information.
No statue and no independent mechanism of assessing or overseeing the editorial independence of the independent print media in Eritrea have been identified.
