Qiushi is published by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and is the party’s main theory-focused publication.
Source of funding and budget
Qiushi is fully funded through a stipend from the Chinese government, according to local journalists and experts interviewed for this report.
Editorial independence
Qiushi is a mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party that publishes political material vetted by the party. It is the usual place for the publication of the long speeches of China’s high officials, particularly those of Xi Jinping, the Chinese leader.
There is no statute and no independent assessment/oversight mechanism to validate the independence of Qiushi.
