Global CAMG Media Group

Global CAMG Media Group was an Australian-based media company linked to China Radio International’s overseas broadcasting network. Incorporated in Australia in 2009 as CAMG Pty Ltd and subsequently renamed Global CAMG Media Group, it was 60 per cent owned by Guoguang Century Media Consultancy, a subsidiary of the Chinese state broadcaster China Radio International, with the remaining 40 per cent held by Tommy Jiang’s Ostar Media Group. It worked with a network of Chinese-language radio stations and publications in Australia, most prominently Melbourne’s 3CW, and formed part of CRI’s wider international radio network. Independent research documented its role in distributing Chinese state-broadcast content and obscuring the state-linked ownership chain.

Its Australian operation unravelled in stages. The formally registered relationship with China Radio International, recorded under the Foreign Influence Transparency Scheme as covering July 2013 to December 2018, was recorded as having ceased in June 2020. Ostar International Media Group, its 40 per cent Australian shareholder and the operator associated with much of the radio network, entered liquidation in 2021. Global CAMG Media Group Pty Ltd itself survived as a separate legal entity for several more years but was ordered wound up on 8 December 2025, when a liquidator was appointed. It should therefore be treated by State Media Monitor as a closed outlet rather than an active media group.
