EHA Medya has been removed from the State Media Monitor dataset. Its previous classification as Captured Private Media is not sustained by the evidence available for this review cycle.

The Trade Registry Gazette of 12 November 2018, reproduced by Nordic Monitor, records the incorporation on 6 November 2018 of Refleks Medya İletişim A.Ş., the company that Nordic Monitor identifies as EHA Medya’s operator. Its initial capital was subscribed 60 percent by Doğan Aras and 40 percent by Seyfullah Emin. Current ownership could not be verified.

The available evidence shows pro-government alignment but does not sufficiently establish state editorial control, which Captured Private Media requires. The reason for removal is insufficient substantiated evidence of state editorial control. Removal leaves EHA Medya’s independence undetermined.

This website features the most complete state and public media database ever built. Collection of data for the State Media Database has been carried out since 2004. During this period, more than 600 researchers have participated in conducting research that has been used to create this database as part of various projects including Television Across Europe, Mapping Digital Media and the ongoing Media Influence Matrix. A consortium of experts led by the Media and Journalism Research Center carries out monitoring of the media outlets featured in the database.
